So, I love Teacher Appreciation Week, love it, love it, love it, favorite week of the year really.

Our work is pretty great about it too, they put up posters for parents to write sweet compliments about the teachers, have a pot luck lunch for us, bring us ice cream, yeah, pretty cool.

Yesterday was our pot luck lunch, with so many international families, the food was truly heaven (I'm still in a food coma.) I'm wandering down the hallway with my plate in my hand, and I get distracted by another teacher - she makes a funny comment, I turn, I laugh, I turn back around and promptly bump into a different co-worker who has two cups of soda pop, which SHE promptly spills all over herself and the floor because I accidentally bumped into her. She pauses, looks at me, looks at the mess, looks at herself, and then takes one of her cups of soda pop and proceeds to pour it all over me. Then she walks away, leaving me to clean up the mess.

Now, I'm quite proud of myself, being in too close proximity to a bullying person is one of my triggers because of the abuse that I've suffered, and normally I freak out. However, instead of whuppin' the &*^% out of this bitch, I simply squeaked, and walked over to get a towel and clean up the mess. She left the mess for me, and I didn't whine, I just cleaned it up and went about my business. I vented about it, blew off steam, and felt better, better but still kind of off kilter.

Come to find out, my boss (who saw the whole thing since it was outside of her office) pulled this woman aside and said, "That wasn't appropriate, professional, etc." This teacher responded with, "Oh well, she'll get over it."

Her little statement pushed my boss over the edge, and when this teacher left
her keys in the bathroom, my boss took them, hid them, and told everyone that they weren't allowed to help her find her keys, everyone had to make her sweat a little.

Again, WTF?

Cut to today, and 28 hours later, after being given the cold shoulder by everyone at work, and having me slamming the door in her face at every opportunity (because I only know how to do passive aggressive, but I elevate it to a freakin' art form), she attempts to apologize.

It goes like this:

Other Teacher (OT): "Are you still mad at me about yesterday?"

Me: "Yes! It was rude."

OT: "You spilled my coke, I got so mad!"

Me: "Yeah, but it was an accident."

OT: "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, let's just put it behind us, it's done. I'm sorry."

Me: "Uh huh."

OT: "Love you girl."

Me: "Uh huh."

Seriously, I'm going to say it again because it bears repeating:

Was that the most backhanded apology ever? Or am I over sensitive? Or was that her response to being ignored by everyone, and being put in her place by our supervisor? I mean, really, I didn't expect something like that at all.

Anyway, it's late, and I'm rambling....

You are all amazing and well worth appreciating every single day!

Wow, um, this is crazy. You would have hoped your boss acted like an actual boss and given her some proper discipline instead of acting like a child. Your co-worker doesn't even seem to understand that what she did was rude (and wrong)

The mind boggles

Yeah, my boss isn't the most mature person either, I've been on the receiving end of it before and it's frustrating. I'm frankly still in a little bit of shock over it, and her apology was really, well, lame, and well, not really an apology at all.

WHAT?! That's just mad.

My mouth dropped open when you told me she poured the soda after you, that's just disgraceful! She's lucky you're not the sort of person who'd decide to sue her or something (I'm sure there's people out there who'd sue for that!)

Also, your boss... seriously?! She needs to give her a formal warning and not start hiding keys which is just...insane.

On the plus side, glad you had some awesome food :) Icon-Jack approves!

I know right? Just completely mad! And the keys, I'll admit to just a smidgen of glee over it, but at the same time - I would have appreciated a formal disciplinary action more. Although, I found out today that I only got an apology because my second supervisor pulled the teacher aside and didn't suggest that she apologize, but flat out TOLD her to apologize. So, I don't know what to think....

On the plus side, I've got an interesting idea for a story bubbling away in my brain, and another plus for the yummy food, I found my lost 40 pounds, darn it!

I like that icon, might I snatch it from you?
